She has been trained to speak A.S.L. Koko learned more than 1,000 signs. Koko was very ill when she young. She first was at the San Francisco Zoo. Francine Patterson adopted her. After many years of training Koko asked if she could have a cat for X-mas. So her owner bought a concrete cat with fabric on it. Koko was mad because she wanted a real cat. Then her owner found some kittens. She brought them to Koko. There was a kitten with a long tail, a short tail and no tail. She chose the one that had no tail. Koko named her kitten All Ball. After many years of fun All Ball was hit with a car. Koko was really really sad and asked for another one. Again she got to choose the size of the tail. She got a kitten with no tail. It was a red kitten. Koko's favorite color is red so she was very happy.:) She named it Lip Stick.
